Galatians 4.4-7 | Luke 1:39-47

During Advent Season, we have two feasts in honor of the Mother of God. One is dedicated to Her Immaculate Conception and the other is dedicated to Her apparition in Mexico in 1531 to the indigenous Saint Juan Diego.

Our Lady of Guadalupe was declared patroness of all America by Pope Pius XII on October 12th, 1945.

Today, the evangelist Luke tells us about Mary who visited Her relative Elizabeth. Both were pregnant. The mother of John the Baptist, filled with the Holy Spirit, declared that the Mother of Jesus was blessed, as was the fruit of Her womb.

Inspired by God, Elizabeth affirmed that Mary was blessed because she had believed, because the Lord was fulfilling what He had promised Her.

So Mary, with Her joyful spirit in God, magnified the Lord with Her soul. This is the beginning of the famous canticle of the Magnificat.

He who is filled with the Holy Spirit, he who allows himself to be inspired by God, following the example of Elizabeth, necessarily declares that the Mother of God is blessed, with a joyful spirit in the Lord!

Today, the Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, tells us that, at the time foreseen by God, His Son was born of a Woman, born of Mary. The Son of God became Man to make men adopted children of God.

The Spirit of the Son sent to us authorizes us to cry out to God with the intimacy of a child calling for his dad. And he who is a son is also an heir, by the grace of God.

How great is our joy! We are adopted children of God in Christ! The Spirit of the Son in us confirms this truth!

Let us live in the joy of being adopted children of God and of being children of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of all America.

Let us pray for the countries that make up America, so diverse, with so much beauty and so many difficulties, so that they may preserve the Christian faith and demonstrate it in caring for the poorest and for the environment.
