Isaiah 52:7-10 / Hebrews 1:1-6 / John 1:1-18
It's Christmas! It's Christmas! Jesus was born of the virgin Mary! Let us rejoice in the Lord! Let us worship the baby God lying in the manger! I hope you and your family had a happy Christmas Night!
Today the evangelist John tells us that Jesus is the Word of God Who became flesh and dwelt among us. John tells us that before Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb by the Holy Spirit, He already existed and lived with God. The Father made all things through the Son and for the Son. The Son is the light and life of men. The evangelist speaks of John the Baptist as a witness of the Son, the Word made man for the salvation of the world, to lead men out of darkness.
The evangelist John says that some rejected the Word; but those who accepted the Word and believed in It became children of God, by grace, for in Jesus is the fullness of grace. Through Him we know the Father, for the Son is the visible image of the invisible God.
Isn't that incredible? Isn't that wonderful? This truth cannot be kept to ourselves alone. It needs to be shared with everyone, so that they may have access to salvation in the Son born of the Virgin Mary!
Today the prophet Isaiah tells us how God comforted His people and rescued Jerusalem. God was reigning over Zion. And the earth would see the salvation that would come from God. This should be a cause for joy and exultation.
The birth of Jesus is already the manifestation of God's victory, of divine mercy that comes to rescue those humiliated by sin. Let us rejoice with joy!
Today the author of the letter to the Hebrews tells us that in these last times God speaks to us through the Son, who is the splendor of His glory, the expression of His being.
The author says that the Son sustains the universe with His power, that He purified men from sins, that He is worshiped by the angels, that He is with God on high.
Let us wholeheartedly adore the baby God, our Savior Jesus, whose birth we celebrate today is the reason for our endless joy.
Christmas lasts a week. Let us live the Week of Christmas with joy!
