Genesis 3:9-15, 20 / Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12 / Luke 1:26-38

Within the Advent Season, we have the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We have the liturgical color white, flowers and the Hymn of Praise, to emphasize the festive tone.

This is a dogma of the Church, a truth of faith, officially proclaimed by Pope Pius IX on December 8th, 1854.

Catholics firmly believe and transmit their faith that the Virgin Mary was preserved from original sin when she was conceived by her parents Saint Joachim and Saint Anne. This grace was granted to Her by Almighty God, in consideration of the merits of Jesus Christ for the salvation of humanity.

The Evangelist Luke, in the context of the Annunciation, teaches us today that Saint Gabriel the Archangel revealed to Mary that She was full of Grace, that She had the fullness of Grace, that She lacked nothing of divine Grace.

The great theologians of the Church interpreted this revelation of Saint Gabriel the Archangel as a teaching about the Immaculate Conception of Mary, that is, that She is holy, pure, without blemish, without stain.

Mary is the only person in the world who had this Grace, because God the Father wanted Her to be a worthy dwelling place for God the Son by becoming Man in Her womb, through the action of God the Holy Spirit.

The book of Genesis, in the context of original sin, says today that God cursed the serpent for having deceived Eve, placing enmity between them, between their descendants.

The great theologians of the Church interpreted that Mary is the new Eve, that is, where the first Eve failed, through her disobedience, Mary, the new Eve, succeeded, through Her obedience. Through Eve and Adam, sin entered the world. Through Mary and Jesus, Grace entered the world.

Writing to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul today teaches that the Christian was chosen by God the Father in Christ, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in love.

The great theologians of the Church have interpreted that Mary was predestined, chosen and prepared by God the Father to be the Mother of God the Son, that is, She is holy and blameless in love, to the praise of God's Grace and His glory.

All generations will proclaim that Mary is blessed, because the Almighty has done great things in Her!
