1 John 2:18-21 / John 1:1-18

The only Son of God was born of the Virgin Mary! Joy overflows in our hearts. The octave of Christmas ends tomorrow, but the liturgical season of Christmas goes until the Sunday of the Baptism of Jesus. We still have a few days.

Today the evangelist John tells us that Jesus is the Word of God Who became flesh and dwelt among us. John tells us that before Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb by the Holy Spirit, He already existed and lived with God. The Father made all things through the Son and for the Son. The Son is the light and life of men. The evangelist speaks of John the Baptist as a witness of the Son, the Word made man for the salvation of the world, to lead men out of darkness.

The evangelist John says that some rejected the Word; but those who accepted the Word and believed in It became children of God, by grace, for in Jesus is the fullness of grace. Through Him we know the Father, for the Son is the visible image of the invisible God.

Isn't that incredible? Isn't that wonderful? This truth cannot be kept to ourselves alone. It needs to be shared with everyone, so that they may have access to salvation in the Son born of the Virgin Mary!

Today the apostle John speaks to us in his first letter about the antichrists, who were those who did not accept that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah promised by God to the ancient prophets, and who, therefore, abandoned the community, teaching lies instead of the truth.

This Christmas, we who have received the anointing that comes from the Holy One and who have knowledge of the truth, must help the people of our time to welcome in Jesus the Messiah promised by God, integrating our community, so that they may be Christians, and not antichrists.
